Session 0027 : We got Trolled

After the Manticore battle, the party decides to rest once again in the "Vampire" Den. The room is still well stocked with wines, cheeses, breads and various meats (mostly pork). Everyone finds a cozy corner to sleep in and they all get a good night's sleep.   The next morning, everyone wakes up, eats, and generally gets prepared for the day to come. Everyone except Lev, that is. Lev is found sitting cross-legged near his sleeping spot, holding the Silver Sword he found in his outstretch hands, palms up. His eyes are closed but seem to be active underneath their lids. The party realizes he's in some sort of meditation or some form of sleep. Instead of trying to wake him, the Heretic decide to leave him undisturbed, feeling that they are leaving him in a relatively safe space.   Moving out into the Hall of Statues, the gang heads back towards the Manticore den. Readying themselves for more Manticore, they find none. Instead, they find a very large chamber that has several sets of double doors on its eastern wall and another set on its southern wall. Scattered around the room are what appears to be make-shift Manticore nests. Six in total. These "nests" are made of torn and bloodied clothing, various bits of armor and weapons, bags and of course the skeletal remains of both humanoids and various small creatures (mostly rats).   Dorian suggests that the party secure the double-door sets with ropes around their handles, so that they aren't surprised by something coming in while they search this room. They spend about ten minutes doing so, then turn to the nests. Lilly leads the way and finds mostly unusable and unvaluable things, but she manages to find some treasures (see 'Rewards Granted' section).   Convinced they've thoroughly searched the room, the party heads to the northernmost of the eastern double-door sets and unties it. Weapons drawn, they head into the corrider beyond. They can easily see the corridor that heads directly south. It's apparent that the other two sets of double-doors lead to this very same corridor. Walking southward, Lilly leads the way and finds a corrider that leads to the east, just south of the double-doors they emerged from. The rest of the Heretic follow closely behind. This corridor ends and turns north into a large chamber. Just as Lilly walks into this chamber, a very large Troll leaps out at her, taking his first swipes and gnashing his bite towards her.   As the party engages in battle, about 3 rounds in, another troll emerges from the corridor that leads to this room. The party is pinched between these two trolls. At one point, Dorian nearly dies as a troll devastates him with critical blows. The fortunes seem to be on Dorian's side however as he rolled a natural 20 on his very first death throw, bringing him back to consciousness with a mere 1 hit point. Dorian remembers that Trolls are particularly susceptible to acid and fire attacks, and shares that with the group by yelling it out.   The game is paused mid-fight due to IRL personal emergency.
